How To Make Liquid Seaweed Fertilizer From Dried Seaweed?

The first step in making liquid seaweed fertilizer is drying the dried seaweed. You need to dry it properly because otherwise it will not work well. If you don’t do this right, then your homemade seaweed fertilizer won’t have any effect on the plant growth.

You can use any kind of seaweed. You just need to take care of some things before you start drying them. First thing you need to do is to wash the dried seaweed thoroughly with water.

Then, place it into a plastic bag or something similar and put it in the refrigerator until it becomes hard. It may take several days if you are using fresh seaweed, but usually only one day is needed for dried ones.

If you want to make liquid seaweed fertilizer from dried seaweed, then the next step is to soak the dried seaweed in warm water for at least four hours. You can do this even if it’s still wet. After soaking, drain off all excess water and let it dry completely.

It should become hard again after being soaked once more in cold water.

Now you need to crush up the crushed seaweed into small pieces. You can also use a food processor for this job.

Finally, you pour the pieces of seaweed into a container such as a bucket or jar and fill it up with water. Stir the mixture well with a wooden stick and cover it with a cloth to prevent bugs and dust from getting in. Place it in a dark place to ferment and wait for about two weeks.

You should check on it regularly to make sure that the mixture doesn’t get moldy or rotten.

When the two weeks are over, strain out all the seaweed with a cloth and then pour it into containers such as plastic bottles. Add a little bit of water to the mixture if you want to make it more diluted. Use your new liquid seaweed fertilizer on your plants right away!

Seaweed is very rich in nutrients and can be used as an organic fertilizer for many kinds of plants. It contains all the essential minerals that plants need to grow such as magnesium, copper, iron, iodine, and more.

You can use liquid seaweed fertilizer on your fruits and vegetables. It is especially effective for growing bigger tomatoes and potatoes. It also works well on citrus fruits and even on flowers.
