Cyclamen are plants with small flowers. They are very popular in the garden world because they have a nice fragrance and their seeds produce beautiful blue-green fruit. There are many different types of cyclamen, but most of them look similar. These plants come from China, Japan, Korea and other Asian countries. Most of these types have short stems and large leaves that grow along the stem. Some varieties have no leaves at all!
The flowers of cyclamen are tiny and white. Their scent is mild and pleasant.
They have a sweet taste, which makes them perfect for eating. However, their smell attracts insects that cause disease to your house plants! You may get stinging bugs if you don’t keep the area clean. If you want to avoid getting such pests, then it’s best to plant cyclamen in pots or containers where they won’t attract so much attention!
Why Do Cyclamen Not Flower?
There are several reasons why cyclamen don’t flower. One reason is that they’re too small! Another reason is that they’ve been stressed out by insect attacks. Insects can cause diseases to your house plants if you let them breed in your home. Other causes include poor lighting conditions, lack of water and even soil deficiencies!

Better yet, they require very low-maintenance to grow and care for!
How to Take Care of a Cyclamen Plant
Cyclamen are succulent plants that come in many varieties. They grow from a short stem that has large leaves growing out of it.
The flowers that grow on the plant are white and very small. If you want to know how to take care of a cyclamen, then you should do the following:
* The first thing you should do is make sure that your plant gets plenty of sunlight. This type of plant grows best in cool temperatures.
It does best in average home temperatures of around 60 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
* Next, you’ll need to water it properly. Water the plant when the soil becomes dry.
If the plant is in a container, then water it when the soil becomes dry at a depth of 1 to 2 inches. You want to make sure that the soil does not become waterlogged because this can cause the roots to rot.
* As for feeding, you should fertilize your plant monthly with a diluted solution. Do this by mixing 1/2 teaspoon of fertilizer with 1 gallon of water.
Then, simply pour this mixture into the potting soil around the plant.
* As for the container that you’ll place your cyclamen in, you have a few options. You can place the plant in a shallow bowl.
You can also place it in a hanging planter or even a wine barrel. Whatever container you decide on, you still need to make sure the drainage is good. If your container doesn’t have holes in the bottom, you should drill some to help prevent the roots from rotting.
* Be careful where you place your plant. These plants like to be still and not moved around too much.
If you place them in drafty locations or areas that receive a lot of wind, they tend to not do as well. It’s best to place your plant in a location that’s not too hot or too cold.
Now that you know how to take care of a cyclamen plant, you should be able to create a lovely addition to your home!
About the Cyclamen
The cyclamen is a fun plant to have around the home. They come in many colors and require very little care to stay healthy.
In fact, many people like to grow them in office environments where they don’t get a lot of natural sunlight. All they need is a little bit of water every once in awhile and they’ll thrive!
If you’re wondering where the name comes from, cyclamen is a Greek word that means “circular,” which describes the nature of the flowers on the outside of the plant. The plants get their color from anthocyanin, which is a type of pigment that is also found in other blue and purple plants.
Most types of cyclamen have five petals and bloom from fall all the way through winter.
There are about 20 species of these plants, with the most popular being the fridge flower, which is a hybrid. These plants come in a wide variety of colors, including white, pink, red, purple, yellow and even multicolored!
A lot of types of cyclamen are very toxic and should be kept away from pets and small children. In fact, the leaves and flowers can cause vomiting if eaten.
However, these plants have other uses. For example, the Romans used to put ground up cyclamen flowers in their food to give it a special taste. They also believed that eating them could help a person see into the future!
The plant itself is divided into two parts. The tuberous part, which stores water and nutrients, sits above the ground and looks like a small (and sometimes not-so-small) round potato.
The second part consists of the long stem and the flowers that sit atop it.
These plants can take a little time to show themselves. They start out as a little bud that sits just above the soil.
Before long, the bud starts to open up and a flower begins to peek out. Before you know it, the whole thing is in full bloom and ready to put on a show!
These plants can be found growing in places like the mountains of Spain, the islands of Greece and even the Alps! They tend to prefer cool and shady locations with acidic, loose soil.
If you live in a region with those types of conditions, you might find quite a few varieties growing wild!
Are You Ready to Get Growing?
Now that you know all about how to take care of a cyclamen plant, are you ready to get started on this project?
If so, head down to your local nursery or big box store and pick out your very own plant. Once you have it in hand, you can get started right away!
Just remember, you don’t want to place this plant in full sun or in areas that receive a lot of wind. Instead, look for a shady and cool location that will give it the perfect environment to thrive.
You’ll soon see the flowers start to bloom and come into their own!
With the proper amount of lighting, watering and attention, your plant should last for many months and even years! Just make sure you don’t over or underwater your plant and you should have no problems at all.
Happy planting!
