The following are some of the most common poisonous plants found in homes. They may cause symptoms similar to those of the deadly nightshade vegetable (belladonna).
If ingested or inhaled they can lead to vomiting blood, seizures and death. Some of these plants are toxic even when grown indoors.
Poisonous Plant Symptoms
Symptoms of poisoning with any of these plants include:
Vomiting Blood – Vomiting blood can occur within minutes, but it usually takes several hours. You may experience nausea, diarrhea and abdominal cramps.
Death occurs within two days without medical attention.
Seizures – Severe cases of poisoning can result in convulsions and coma. These seizures may last up to 24 hours.
Death – Death may occur within three days without medical treatment.
